Description
The Compañía Nacional de Teatro of the Instituto Alejandro Tapia y Rivera presents Morir de Noche, a play by Puerto Rican playwright Roberto Ramos-Perea.
Set in contemporary Puerto Rico, the story follows a young artist named Vincent Van Gogh, who, after another suicide attempt, calls his former professor, Emile Zolá, seeking a reason to live. The play explores themes of artistic freedom, the burdens of family life, and the eternal struggle between passion and duty.
Morir de Noche was a finalist in the prestigious Premio Tirso Molina competition in 1992, where Ramos-Perea also won with his play Miénteme más. The cast includes Mariana Quiles, Israel Solla, Ada Luz Santos, and UGOH.
The play has been performed with acclaim in Havana, Guadalajara, Buenos Aires, and San Juan. It returns for five performances at Teatro Victoria Espinosa on September 6, 7, and 8, 2024. Admission is free, with open seating. The play is not recommended for minors.
